Rural Reminder

Education Week reports on a roving math professional development program in South Dakota. The state department there is using Title II funds to support the program, which begins with a week long summer seminar and continues as professional developers meet with participating teachers in regional meetings. Professional developers then drive to participants' schools, where they observe and work with teachers. Although the article doesn't mention the state's large rural population, the program seems to designed to help address the challenge of rural educators' access to professional development.
