Rural Reminder: Dude, that's my cousin.

The National Rural Education Association (NREA) Foundation conducts a student essay contest each year. This year's high school division winner is Evan Dorosheff, a senior at Greenview High School in Greenview, Illinois.

Not only does Evan's essay elaborate on one of the important strengths of rural schools--tight-knit community relationships--he makes his point with this classic exchange: "...You ask your friend if he thinks a girl is 'hot' and he responds by saying 'Dude, that's my cousin.'"
