NREA Rural Research Calls
Attached are the calls for papers and presentations for the 2007 Convention and Research Symposium for the National Rural Education Association!
The Symposium tends to feature scholarly research projects, and draws researchers from the US and abroad to exchange ideas and findings in rural education, and link them to the needs of rural teachers and administrators. Projects at past Symposia have been from university and college faculty, teachers, administrators, researchers at educational labs and centers, and others. Conference presentations tend to focus on strategies and practice directly.
Consider how your work, or the work of others you know, could enrich all of us at the Symposium or Conference. The NREA National Research Committee looks forward to seeing your work!
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Best,
Pat Hardre, Ph.D.

dear Rural Education Researcher:
the National Rural Education association will host the NREa Research symposium on November 10-11, 2007; at the hilton Garden inn hotel and Clarion Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. the NREa Research symposium will precede the NREaCentennial Convention, which is scheduled on November 12-14, 2007. Registration for the NREa Research symposium will be $150, unless you register for the NREa Centen-nial Convention. Registration for the NREa Centennial Convention provides a free regis-tration for the NREa Research symposium.
You are invited to submit a proposed presentation for the NREa Research sympo-sium. all manuscripts will be peer reviewed based on a uniform rubric. this invitation is extended to you in an effort to assemble outstanding rural education researchers in a forum devoted solely to rural education issues and research. the NREa plans for the NREa Research symposium to become the premier event in rural education research. Please plan to provide the NREa information about your proposed presentation on a disc in PowerPoint, PdF format, or email. also, symposium presenters will be invited to sub-mit their manuscripts for publication in the Rural Educator, a peer-edited publication of the NREa.
the NREa Executive Committee has established a $500 award, the howard a. dawson best Research Paper award will be presented to the author of the paper that is judged to be the best Research Paper. the award will be presented at the symposium and the recip-ient of the award will present the best Research Paper during the Research symposium.
a draft program for the 2007 NREa Research symposium is attached.
Please review the list of presentation strands that could be included in the symposium. studies chosen will be blocked in presentation clusters, with no more than two presenta-tions per cluster. Clusters will be designed to summarize the research and generate inter-action between the presenters and the audience.
Please contact bob Mooneyham; Executive director of the NREa, bmooneyham@ou.edu; or Patricia hardre; Chair of the NREa Research Committee, hardre@ou.edu; for additional information about the NREa Research symposium.
