AERA 2007 Election

A message from AERA Elections (aera-response@eloop.goldlasso.com).

November 13, 2006

Dear AERA Voting Members:

I am writing to invite you to express your preference as to whether you would like to vote electronically or by mailed ballot for the 2007 election.

As part of AERA’s continued effort to utilize technology to enhance efficiency and expand participation, the AERA Council approved the use of electronic balloting for the AERA elections in January 2005. This change was incorporated in the revised AERA Bylaws which were approved by AERA membership in a special membership referendum in March 2006. As a result, electronic ballots will be offered as an option to all voting members in the 2007 election.

As in the past, the election will be conducted by an independent election agent on behalf of the Association. Depending on preferences indicated by voting members, the agent will either send a paper ballot by mail or an e-mail with a secure, personalized link to the electronic ballot. Biographical statements of candidates will be published in the December issue of Educational Researcher, posted on the AERA website, and linked to the electronic ballot.

Please inform AERA of your preference for a paper or an electronic ballot by sending an email to election@aera.net :

Option One: Electronic Ballot
If you prefer to receive an electronic ballot, please send an email to election@aera.net with “E-BALLOT” in the text of the email. Please also include your name and affiliation. You will receive an e-mail notice inviting you to cast your electronic ballot in January 2007.

Option Two: Paper Ballot
If you would prefer to have a paper ballot sent to you through the US Postal Service in January 2007, please send an email to election@aera.net with “PAPER BALLOT” in the text of the email. Please also include your name and affiliation.

Please respond immediately and no later than November 20, 2006.

If you have any questions regarding the election and the use of electronic ballot, please contact Phoebe Stevenson, Deputy Executive Director, at governance@aera.net.

Sincerely,
Felice J. Levine
Executive Director
