Rural Education in the News

Apologies that there wasn't an edition of this last week, even though I was without Internet access I intended to post it when I returned last Saturday. However, the Google News Alert service did not send me any rural education in the news, and I didn't receive one again this week. Maybe I need to set-up the service again.

Observers are calling China's decision to end school fees in western areas of the country as "historic reform." More than half of the nation's 1.3 billion citizens live in rural areas, where school fees sometimes consume up to a third of families' annual incomes. (3/21)
