Mulcahy Elected SIG Chair; Grad Student Rep Created
Dennis, a former Program Chair of the SIG, has been a member of the Rural Education SIG since its inception over a decade ago. He can be contacted at dmulcahy-at-mun-dot-ca and his home page can be viewed at http://www.ucs.mun.ca/~dmulcahy/.
In addition, a new position of Graduate Student Representative was also created. This position, which will largely be defined during its first year of operation, was assumed by Michael Barbour. Michael can be contacted at mkb-at-uga-dot-edu.

New Rural Education Center Launches Research Projects
"Chapel Hill, N.C. - A new center established to research rural education is starting work on studies that could improve the ways rural educators engage their students in learning and help them to stay in school.
The National Research Center on Rural Education Support, financed by a five-year, $10 million federal grant, is beginning its work here at its home on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus."
